This opportunity entails localizing the entire value chain for polyacrylamides (PAM) to serve the KSA industry.
Currently, limited manufacturing of PAM exists in the domestic market driving high imports (38,000 MT in 2017).
In addition, PAM is a key element in water management, oil recovery and paper production; all of which are growing in KSA. PAM consumption is thus expected to rise significantly over the next couple of years with imports increasing to 46,000 MT in 2020.
The increase in demand for PAM and the limited presence of local players coupled with the Governments push for localization presents a great opportunity for the private sector to invest in establishing facilities for PAM in KSA.
Beyond the facilities for PAM, other opportunities exist across the value chain including:
- Providing handling services (e.g., drums and iso containers) due to the absence of local providers
- Providing transportation and loading services (e.g., flatbed trailers and manifold trailers) due to the absence of local providers
To be determined by the investor
To be assessed by investor (cost drivers and other financial figures to be shared upon request)
Open to starting the project as soon as possible
- Pure private sector model
- Joint venture with local player
